Interestingly enough, there are actually more options for speaker placement than there are flat panel tv screen sizes! In today's world of immersive home theater, you may have seen number sequences like 7.1.4 or 5.2 or 3.0 LESS THAN $3,000 INSANE 7.2.4 Immersive Dolby Atmos Setup | Costco + @Klipsch In this video, I go over steps to getting a POWERFUL 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos setup. Dolby Atmos technology is now available for the home and produces a listening experience never before experienced in a home theater. You'll get a great immersive experience, no matter what kind of Dolby Atmos home theater setup you have. Dolby Atmos content is mixed as audio objects instead of traditional channels

Go into setup/speakers/manual setup/amp assign and set the main config to 7.1ch, then scroll down to Floor/ -layout and set this to 5ch, you will also see further down height and Dolby Sp settings but the Dolby Sp will most likely be grey'd out, scroll down to height/ -height Sp and make sure you set this to None, then the (Atmos) Dolby Sp will become available - set this option to 2ch. The most common home cinema configuration for Dolby Atmos speakers is 5.1.2 (that's the regular 5.1 configuration with two height channels), or 5.1.4 (the same, but with four height channels)

Apr 18, 2020. #2. To get Atmos you need to mount them higher up and angled down. Putting them at ear height behind you is more like rear speakers in a 7.1. I would consider either KEF Q50a or Dali Alteco-C1. I would recommend Alteco-C1 as they can be used as either Height or Up-firing (set by switch). Panasonic TX-65GZ950B, Sony HT-G700, Oppo. Anyone with a conventional 5.1 systems with the rear speakers placed higher than ear level (around 1.5-2.0m high), won't really fully benefit from a full 5.1.4/7.1.4 Atmos setup. These types of setups will benefit from a 5.1.2/7.1.2 setup adding in a pair of Atmos speakers nearer the front of the soundstage, filling in the biggest gap that exists in many current systems

Question - 5.2.4 or 7.2.2 Dolby Atmos in small home ..

Dolby's new format is also scalable: Audio objects contain metadata that allows them to be rendered for playback on a wide range of speaker configurations, though a minimum of two height speakers—either in-ceiling or Atmos Enabled models—used in a 5.1.2 setup is required. So, according to Dolby, the answer is yes: Adding a pair of Atmos. Supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for an immersive three-dimensional sound-space through 7.2.2 or 5.2.4 channels. Connect an outboard power amp via 11.2-multichannel pre-outs and enjoy seamless top-to-bottom, side-to-side, and front-back coverage with one or two pairs of in-ceiling or add-on module speakers, and seven bookshelf or tower speakers I am a newbie to ATMOS and will be getting my first ATMOS AVR next week. I am getting a Yamaha RX-A3080 9.2 channel receiver with additional rear presence channel that requires external amp. I have been reviewing the user manual and it appears that in order to do a 5.1.4 ATMOS setup, you have.. For speakers, we will elaborate more in details after the speaker's section below. A 7.1.4 setup required the basic 7.1 speakers with an additional 4 speakers. The .2 and .4 mean the numbers of Atmos speakers required for the setup. So let us get started with the basic 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos setup required for home cinema But you get a 5.2.4 setup and atmos and dts:x up mixers can fill in the missing surround side speakers with virtual speakers by using the front speakers, surround backs and top speakers. Another tip is to try angling the surround back speakers to try and widen them

5.1.4 Overhead Speaker Setup - Dolb

All the AV receivers included in this review can work with Dolby Atmos easily - there is no need for virtual speakers when using them. If you want to have a great Dolby Atmos experience, you need a 7.1 (7.2) or 9.1 (9.2) surround sound speaker setup, plus the addition of two or four overhead ceiling-mounted speakers So, I'm wracking my brain here...I have a semi-dedicated room measuring 21' X 12' X 7.5' that is sealed. MLP is 14' from TV. I am setting up a 5.2.4 system and so far have my LCR set up.....sooooo, I know that the Dolby ATMOS set up instructions are guidelines...however the way I am looking to get the 4 on-ceiling AND going by the guidelines, the top rear atmos speakers will be past the surrounds 1. Will a 5.2.4 work with the a90s firing at the ceiling and the other 2 atmos speakers firing down from the 2 middle holes? 2. I see the ideal setup is to have the 2 atmos speakers behind you in a 4 speaker setup. Will it greatly effect the Expericance with them in the front? 3 Am looking to set up most likely a 5.2.4 setup in a new theatre room that's 6m x 4.8m. Does any know whether the rear atmos speakers are meant to be in front of the surround speakers or behind the surround speakers? As when I looked at the Dolby website last year it had them as in front, but now it seems to have changed Dolby Atmos Music should be created using 24fps. Hardware Buffer Size - This setting should be at least 1,024 samples. Playback Engine - This should be set to HDX for the Dolby Atmos Renderer running on an external Rendering and Mastering Workstation, or set to Dolby Audio Bridge for the Dolby Atmos Renderer running internally

(5.2) -4 height channels (RP-140SA) -1 extra height channel above TV for Dolby Atmos height speakers (RP-140SA) -1 Voice Of God Channel (5800-CDT-II) My original goal was to do a 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos setup. But now with Auro-3D out, I'd like to sample both audio formats. An option. (please 2 subs) .4 to be honest i dont see the need for the 2 rear speakers with the 4 atmos.. also you now need to power 11 speakers $$$$. if it was a 7m+ room fine but 6m i am not sure you will get any more over 5.2.4. you can space the seating possibly better with 5.2.4 imo and get the 2 rows. The progression I took was 5.2 to 7.2 to 7.2.4. I used my 5.2 setup for almost 6 years before I upgraded to 7.2. Used that setup for 2 years before I upgraded to the full 7.2.4 ATMOS setup I have now. IMO the move from 5.2 to 7.2 was good but not mind blowing. I thought the upgrade from 7.2 to 7.2.4 was much more impressive For sure. So for either 7.1.2 or 5.1.4, you need a traditional 7ch or 5ch system with the speakers at or just above ear lever. Then you have your Atmos height layer with your speakers installed in whichever location you can do

But if I keep the current surround locations but lower them, because they are all 8' above the floor to keep them out of the way in the kitchen area, I can make these work if I use in-wall speakers

Rear speakers are probably the least important improvement to a system, and should be on the last of the list to add. Atmos is incredible compared to 5.1 or 7.1. I'd suggest using real overhead speakers I would also go with a single row and try to do 5.2.4. Rear surrounds (ala 7.1) should have at least 4-5' behind the LP and putting them there for the sake of having them just won't add anything and will be a distraction more than an immersion Locating Dolby Atmos speakers. I would divide the room in thirds, from front to back, and from left to right. The four points of intersection would hold two top front, and two top middle speakers. I really liked this deal and ended up revamping my entire home theater experience around it, adding (not part of this deal) a 9.2 channel receiver, an additional Klipsch R12SWi wireless subwoofer and a pair of Klipsch R41SA Dolby Atmos for rear heights later on to complete a 5.2.4 setup if you have the 5.2.2 setup now you know how much (less) sound is coming from the Atmos speakers, I will not be more with 4 speakers instead of 2 personally I prefer x.y.4 due to the Enhancers like Auromatic (Auro3D) or the Yamaha DSP modes which include these height speakers much more than naked Atmos Looking for advice and recommendations from the community. Hello, I am working out an atmos setup for my room. I have a sectional sofa up against the back wall. I have no room to really create any space by moving it forward nor do I have any wall space on the back wall to install in-wall speakers. My question is whether I should do a 5.2.4 Atmos setup.. Reason I was wondering about the 5.2.4 setup was that in the Dolby Atmos speaker suggestions, I never see a 5.2.4 where the back speakers are surrounds and on the sides vs at the back. So was concerned it wouldn't work with the setup I was thinking without some form of rear speakers I will have the room and budget to do a 5.2.4 installation but realized that I could easily save $800 to $1000 by going 5.2.2 , most of the difference is the price of the AVR. My questions are these. 1. Is it worth it to go Atmos or is it better to go with a preamp setup/amp 5.2 setup? 2 Dolby Atmos Setup & surround sound explanation. What is Dolby Atmos?
